Murrumbidgee held an intrasquad match last weekend with the 20-man squad picked from that hit out at Exies Oval.
They came up with a squad which in coach Tim Rand's opinion offers the right mix of youth and experience.
"Pretty excited by the squad actually," he said.
Off the back of the practice match, Rand felt that it was one of the youngest in the squad who really stood out.
"I thought Hayden Forner did really well," he said.
"Being so young and playing in the senior competition, he kind of surprised us with how well he was hitting the ball.
"We all know how talented he is, and he is a good kid who is willing to listen and take on board any advice.
"We are delighted to have him apart of the squad."
The squad will travel to Albury on October 27 before heading to Canberra on November 3 for a doubleheader against ACT Aces and Wagga Wagga Sloggers.
The Rangers have come close to picking up wins in the competition but have never been able to get over the line.
This year, Rand believes the squad has what it takes.
"We have prepared well, and we want to be competitive," he said.
"They were pretty close a could of years ago against Albury and Wagga but weren't quite able to get across the line.
"We know it is going to be tough, but it would be nice to progress to the next round."
