The facility was purpose built by Can Assist and the Cancer Council NSW, together with the support of local and regional communities.
It provides accommodation for people undergoing cancer treatment at nearby facilities, with many Leeton shire residents using the lodge over the years during what can be a tough time.
As a way of saying thanks, a large contingent of Leeton community members headed over to Wagga on October 13 for the lodge's high tea fundraising event.
Around 38 people boarded a bus from Leeton and headed over to participate. In the lead up to the event many Leeton shire businesses and individuals also donated funds towards the cause.
Leeton's Anna Nardi co-ordinated the trip in the hopes residents would get behind the idea and support the lodge that has helped so many of "our own".
Mrs Nardi herself has stayed at the lodge while receiving radiotherapy treatment.
She said the lodge, as well as Leeton's own Can Assist group, were crucial in providing her with support and a direction forward during her treatment.
The idea to take a bus from Leeton to the fundraiser in Leeton came after last year's inaugural event attracted just a small group of participants.
"I wanted to do it big and show our support this year and it was just overwhelming how many people from Leeton wanted to come and be part of it," Mrs Nardi said.
"Their generosity was just amazing and greatly appreciated.

Mrs Nardi said she couldn't say "thank you" enough to the Leeton community for its support of the high tea.
