THERE were laughs and many surprises as the audience got just what it was after at this year's Dancing with the Stars.

Hosted by St Joseph's Primary School, the event featured many local faces, who partnered up to show off their best dance moves.
Dancing with the Stars was this year's major fundraiser for the school's P&F, with the night labelled "a blast" by principal MaryJane Simms.
"It was such an incredible night ... it went off," she said.

"We couldn't be more pleased. The dancers and their teachers did an amazing job."
"(It was) an amazing night of incredible entertainment."
The money raised from the weekend will go towards upgrading technology at the school.
"At St Joseph's we pride ourselves on having high-quality technology in all of our classrooms," Mrs Simms said.
"In stage two and three all of our students have laptops.
"As technology continues to change, we need to continue to upgrade.
"It's amazing how students are continuing to learn through technology, including through our STEM program."
The dancers putting themselves out there were Craig Purtill and Bree McGregor; Todd Smith and Clare Vant; Marty Asmus and Libby Gillespie; Brendan Steele and Jane O'Garey; Matt Pete and Andria Coelli; Brooke Ierano and Paul Symes; Ben Paton and Deanne Vitelli; Angelo Fiumara and Steph Cirillo and Chris Dawe and Samantha Gregurke.
Mrs Simms praised the group for putting themselves (and their bodies) on the line in the name of the event.
"What an outstanding example you have set, of courage and the joy and reward that comes from taking a risk," she said.
"You embraced a new experience and achieved something very special.
"In doing so you have made lifelong friends with your fellow dancers.I thank you for your gift of your time, including countless weeknights and weekends, preparing for the big night."
Mrs Simms also thanked their choreographers, as well as P&F president Julianne Dowling. "Julianne was our leader and organiser of all of this," she said.
"She has done an incredible job and I can't thank her enough for her leadership with this event. She was calm under pressure."
