Many schools now offer transition programs of varying lengths to ensure youngsters heading to kindergarten are well prepared and adjusted to their new norm.
Parkview Public School is one of those offering the initiative, with 2020 kindergarten students ticking off their 10th week of learning experiences as part of the transition program.
They recently reached another milestone, meeting their new year 6 buddies for 2020.
The buddy program is part of the student welfare support program that scaffolds new students at Parkview PS as they commence their primary school journey.
In addition to time in the classroom, children engage in activities that help settle them in to all elements of their new educational environment including routines, playground experiences and transitions between activities.
Parkview Public transition co-ordinator Lacey Chilko was pleased with the progress of the new students.
