Leeton Shire Council has approved tenders for several initiatives, which means work can soon get started.
One of those is the Leeton Showground grandstand project.
The former grandstand at the showground has been demolished and has been awaiting the next step in its rebuild.
It was described as an "eyesore" and "embarrassment to the community", but its replacement will certainly be anything but that.
The Leeton Showground Trust and council received funding for the project, but there has been little movement since the former grandstand was demolished.
That should soon change after council announced it had received four tenders for the project, but it has now resolved to reject all tenders and enter into negotiation with the preferred tenderer Bill Arnold Pty Ltd.
This project will give the showground a new look, but once completed the grandstand will be able to be used by a variety of organisations, including the Leeton-Whitton Football and Netball Club, the Leeton Harness Racing Club, Leeton Show Society and many more.
Meanwhile, Murray Bridge Constructions Pty Ltd has been accepted as the tender for the Darlington Point Whitton Road Bridge upgrade.
The state government announced funding for this work earlier this year to the tune of $2.7 million.

The project will improve and fix an irrigation bridge along the road, which has sunk over the years.
It will see a new concrete, three-span bridge and road alignment.
Council's administration offices will also be given a new heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system, with Complete Essential Fire and Air given the job.
Council said during its deliberations of each of the tenders, its local preference policy was applied where necessary.
