I'm not sure how many years it's been going on but it's one of Twilight Golf's biggest rivalries. Every season Crowaholics and Swig 'n' Swing have challenged each other, once before Christmas and once after for bragging rights, for camaraderie, a few quiet ales and a hit 'n' giggle that may start out social but finishes with a quick flow of competitive juices finalised with a schnitty at the club following play.

This year's first hit-out was a blinder. They played in one group (14 players) and it came down to the wire, with the Crowaholics defeating last season's overall winners, Swig 'n' Swing, by a solitary shot after Will Wakeman calmly 2 putted from 3 feet to get them over the line.
Howlong's Ben Elwin had the best score in the challenge - a 4 under 32 nett, as he continues his strong form of late. Daniel Muir prefers the fast twitch action of a game of footy struggling under the enormous pressure with a 44, he normally does that off the stick and GD was his normal solid self with a Par round 36 off the bat! Teams should strongly consider challenge days with others, it's great socially.
This week's player of the round went to When's Smoko's Benny Matthews who had a 6 under 30 nett to beat Grant Cropper on a countback. Benny's 37 last week gets the nod over Grant's 40 last week. Other great scores came from Anthony Lee, Ryan Grey, Bailey Wood, Kerry McWhinnie all on 31 (Kerry is the lady of the round). Ben Elwin from Howlong, Mark Nardi, Glen Harvey, Matt Rainbird, Kobe Shaw, Benny "Colorado" Killen, Keith Fletcher and the little champ Salvo Alampi all had 32s. Last of the mentions for the round, on 33 nett, were Raymondo Watson, Shane Dryburgh, Glenn Saddler, Brian Rotherhan, Dave Killen, Rocky Sillis, Nathan Ryan and Nick Di Pompo. The ball competition cut off was 34.
The best team total of the week came from another Leeton Whitton Crows based outfit CLASS on GRASS. Maybe they should challenge? They recorded a 19 under Par team total of 161, which was 4 clear of Dirty Sanchez on 165 as they battled it out in the wind last Friday night.
This Sunday sees the MS Charity Day. Twilight rounds can still be played, you just have to avoid teeing off between 9.30am and 1pm.
