Victoria's County Court heard Stephen Athanasiadas, 26, Ahmed Dib, 34, Hussein Dib, 26 and Christopher Hughes-Firgaria, 26, threatened their victim with a gun and bashed him for more than two hours in Melbourne's southeast in January last year.

After searching for the man in two cars, the gang rammed his vehicle before taking him to Athanasiadas' garage and assaulting him until he agreed to transfer the money and his car to them.

The extortionists had earlier enjoyed a dinner break, with Ahmed and Hughes-Firgaria using the victim's car to do a KFC Xpress run. A receipt for the fast food meal was tendered to the court along with the men's phone records.

Once they'd eaten, their chicken bone leftovers were thrown at the victim as he lay bleeding in the floor and while Hughes-Firgaria urged his co-offenders to "get the pliers and pull his teeth out".

The man, who was found to have suffered psychological injuries and flashbacks as a result of the ordeal, was ordered "not to talk to the police or anybody".

The court heard the Hussein brothers were flown to Victoria from Sydney and paid $6000 by Athanasiadas to conduct the attack.

For his role devising the plan, Athanasiadas was sentenced by Judge Michael McInerney to 23 months' jail.

Ahmed and Hussein Dib, who had previous convictions for drug trafficking, were sentenced to 17 and 15 months, respectively.

Hughes-Firgaria, having been part of the bullying but not of the beating, was sentenced to a three-year community corrections order.
