REGULAR crews from Leeton's Fire and Rescue brigade have been heading off to the state's many bushfire zones.
For the past month or so, one crew per week has been called on to assist in fighting the fires in the state's north, primarily in the Lismore and Casino areas.
One crew consists of three to four firefighters and they are typically gone for at least a week at a time.
"Most of the work they have been involved in is property protection," Leeton Fire and Rescue Captain Graham Parks said.
"There doesn't really appear to be an end in sight.
"We're only a couple of days into summer and already so much of the state has been burned."
Captain Parks expects to keep sending crews from Leeton Fire and Rescue to help wherever they needed right throughout the season.
However, he assured Leeton shire residents enough firefighters remained at home to ensure the town area was covered in the case of an emergency occurring here.
