A MAN was left with serious facial injuries after allegedly being assaulted in Leeton over the weekend.

The 47-year-old had left a licensed premises in town and was walking in Church Street when the assault allegedly took place around 10pm.
The man was taken to Griffith Base Hospital with what police described as "significant injuries to his face".
A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged by police.
"He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm," Murrumbidgee Police District Inspector Justin Cornes said.
"The 19-year-old appeared in Griffith Local Court on Saturday where bail was refused."

The man is due to face Griffith Local Court again on Wednesday.
While the man has been arrested and charged, police are still searching for witnesses who may have seen the alleged assault take place.
