The hot weather is expected to arrive from Tuesday onwards across the region and continue for many days on end.
Temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid 40s from Wednesday until at least Sunday. There's also no rain in sight ahead of the all-important Christmas forecast.
With such extreme weather comes warnings for residents to look after the health of themselves, their loved ones and neighbours.
Given it is also such a dry season, those still harvesting will likely be told to cease operations on those days, with total fire bans also a high possibility in the coming week.
Pets should also be on the radar. Veterinarians recommend bringing domestic pets inside where possible, but if that is not possible for people to make sure these animals have plenty of water and shade available to them.
