The family of the late Peter Eurell gathered at the Leeton & District Bowling Club just before Christmas to witness the official opening of the Peter Eurell Green.
Eurell was an institution at the club.
As well as starring on the green, he also contributed both financially and with his time to ensure the continued success of the club.
He won six single titles over three decades, was pairs champion five times, triples champion seven times and fours champion three times.
Incredibly, he also managed to win a total of 10 district championships.
His ability on the green was officially recognised in 1968 when he was selected to represent NSW.
Eurell commenced sponsorship of the annual "Eurell pairs" event in 1982 and he, and then his family, have sponsored the event every year since, for a total of 37 years.
"The loyalty and generosity of the family for such a long and unbroken time is simply staggering," L&D's Tony Reneker said.
"The event, which is held in December of each year at the L&D club, continues to be very popular, with bowlers needing to nominate early to guarantee themselves of a spot in the draw."
Eurell's wife Rita and immediate family were on hand to launch the naming of the green.

In an emotional address Mrs Eurell told the crowd Peter would have been a very proud man to have the green named in his honour and spoke of his fondness of the L&D.
"He loved the game of bowls and he loved this club," she said.
Eurell was made a life member of the L&D around 1980 and passed away in 2011.
The green named in his honour now has a brand new sign to signify the achievement of Eurell over the years.
His family hope to see many more people enjoying the green and the game of bowls in the coming years in the shadow of his long-lasting memory.
