Shoppers hit the streets and retail shops in the lead up to Christmas, with many choosing to spend their hard-earned money in town rather than shopping online or heading to neighbouring centres.
This year's Leeton Business Chamber Christmas promotion had stores doing their own lucky shopper giveaways in the forms of in store vouchers.
This culminated in a mini Christmas carnival on December 19 where 10 $200 Leeton gift cards were won by those who had shopped in town.
"In general many of the shops I spoke with were happy with the level of trade (in the festive period)," chamber president Wayne Bond said.
"Despite the drought and some doom and gloom, they were still trading okay.
"Some mentioned they were on par with last year, which they were happy with."
The Leeton gift cards were originally launched some years ago, but have now been given a freshen up and are available year-round. They ensure money will be spent locally and make a great present.
The cards can be purchased from Leeton Newsagent, Leeton Steel and the Leeton Heritage Motor Inn and spent at participating stores.
Mr Bond said it was crucial for residents to continue supporting local businesses.
"As we enter into a new decade, the drought continues to bite and many of our our local families face an uncertain future," he said.
