Smoke haze was the big factor, but there were also days of high cloud and dangerous winds.
While the weather didn't allow glider pilots to compete every day, the competition was still a success, according to Formula 1.0 Gliding Grand Prix organiser Nick Gilbert.
"While there was a bit of disappointment, it's certainly nothing compared to what other Australians are currently going through at the moment," he said.

This year's competition was taken out by Melbourne's Ben Loxton, who went back-to-back after taking out the title in 2018-19.
"He flew very consistently," Mr Gilbert said.
"That's the thing about these types of events. You can't win them in a day, but you can definitely lose in a day, so you need to be consistent."
Pilots were this year greeted by a green strip of grass for take off thanks to efforts of Leeton Shire Council and the Brobehah Airfield, which helped alleviate dust issues.
The event will go ahead again at the end of 2020 and into 2021, with a large contingent of pilots expected to take part.
"We won't be clashing with any other competitions next year, so we expect very good numbers," Mr Gilbert said.
