A collection centre was set up in Kurrajong Avenue just after the bushfire crisis situation escalated on New Year's Eve and since then volunteers have been flooded with donations.

Packs were done up to help Rural Fire Service volunteers, which included everything from water and sunscreen to lip balm and eye wash.

Other donations are being delivered to those across various fire zones who have lost everything.

Food, clothing, nappies, hygiene items and more have all found their way to the collection centre thanks to residents who were able to contribute.

Leeton resident Sandra Nardi organised for the collection centre to take place and said she, along with the volunteers who put their hands up to assist in managing what was coming in, was overwhelmed with the response.

"We started having donations coming in straight away," she said.

"I think a lot of people were feeling helpless about what they could do, so that's why I decided to start this up."

As a result of the donations, a car load of items was taken to Nowra by Lexi Hone from the RFS MIA Zone, another went to Tumut thanks to Belinda Mahalm.

A couple from Darlington Point, who are planning to move to the fire-affected community of Cobargo, took another vehicle brimming with donations to the devastated village on Wednesday.

Other items have also been driven to Broulee and Batemans Bay. A further convoy to Batemans Bay is planned for Saturday to deliver all of the final donations.

Residents and businesses in the shire have also donated to the many organisations assisting with bushfire relief.

"Everyone just wants to do what they can to help out," Miss Nardi said.
