STEVE "Starlo" Starling is a man who knows more than a thing or two about dropping a line in.
Mr Starling is not just a sports fishing writer and television personality, but he's also quote the expert on all things fishing and even the products and equipment one should use to land their catch.
He will be imparting all of that knowledge at this year's Leeton Bidgee Classic, which will be held at Gogeldrie Weir and along the Murrumbidgee River, from March 6 to 8.
Mr Starling is one of Australia's best known and most prolific fishing writers, having published over 20 books, thousands of magazine articles and scores of DVDs and videos.
He was a co-presenter with the Rex Hunt Fishing Adventure TV show, which rose to fame in the 1990s and is today increasingly active in online recreational angling media.
Leeton Bidgee Classic president Jodie Ryan was thrilled the committee had reeled him in for the event.
"To have an expert in all things fishing with the calibre of Steve Starling is a real coup for our competition and we are extremely excited that he has chosen to attend our 21st anniversary event," she said.
"Starlo will be actively engaging with the competitors and also passing out some tricks of the trade to our budding young fishos during the competition."
A question and answer session will also take place prior to the super Saturday raffles where members of the crowd will get the opportunity to quiz Mr Starling on all things fishing.
Preparation for the competition is well underway with the weekend set to be a busy one on the waterways.
