The Leeton-Whitton Football and Netball Club has formed a Netball Court Upgrade Sub-Committee, which has been working on fundraising and securing grants to replace the dilapidated court at the Leeton Showground.
Once completed and constructed, this court will honour Meg's memory and her contribution to the sport and love of the game.
It will be named the Meg Thomas Memorial Court.
The cost of the project is about $80,000, with $60,000 already raised through a grant from the federal government, a $30,000 contribution from the Crows themselves, as well as through donations.
The committee and club is now looking to raise the final amount through a final push for donations from the community, big or small.
There are three donation categories, gold - $1000, silver $500 and bronze $250, but smaller amounts can also be taken.
Committee member Travis Irvin said the club had been overwhelmed by the support already.
"We've been absolutely overwhelmed with the support we've received from the community so far," he said. "
Since our call for donations on Sunday, January 26, we've had a significant amount of money pledged, for which we are extremely grateful.
"The response from the community means we are certainly on our way to raising the extra capital needed to ensure the new court is completed prior to the start of the 2020 netball season."
MORE SPORT
Not only will the court honour Meg's memory, but it will also allow the club to cater for big events and growing participation numbers at both a senior and junior level.
Irvin said the Thomas family had been heavily involved with the project.
"Meg was a talented netballer and sportsperson in general," he said.
"After careful consideration of the Thomas family's wishes, the club embraced the idea of Meg's siblings Josh, Abbey and Ella, to perpetuate her memory by naming the new netball court after her.
"Netball was her passion and playing for the Leeton-Whitton Crows Netball Club was what she loved doing the most.
We've been absolutely overwhelmed with the support we've received from the community so far.

"The Leeton-Whitton Football and Netball Club is really mindful of the positive impact sports like netball have on our rural and remote communities. Our organisation is about much more than adults and children playing football and netball - it provides local families with a community hub to belong to and identify with."
