The Ferrets won the toss and made a flying start with youngsters Mathew Axtill and Harry Steele at the top of the order.

Over the course of the first 15 overs the L&D side was able to put on 78 runs before Steele (32) was caught by Haydn Emerson off the bowling of Brodie Perram (1/33).

The Narrandera side would have been hoping they might be able to stem the flow of runs with the wicket of Steele. However, Daniel Muir had other ideas as he made his return to the crease after picking up a shoulder injury playing AFL last season.

Muir and Axtill put their side on track to a colossal total putting on 91 in just 10 overs before with Muir was stumped by Anthony Craig off the bowling of Brent Lawrence (1/56) after scoring 79 runs off 37 deliveries.

The runs kept coming for the Ferrets with Adrian Axtill joining his son Mathew out in the middle and pushed their side past the 200-mark before Adrian (30) was run out by Byron Horrell.

The Ferrets lost two in quick succession, but it made little difference as a fifty from Mathew Axtill (66) helped his side finish on 6/251 off 40 overs.

It was always going to be a tough chase for the Carpheads who needed to score at 6.2 runs per over, but Craig and Horrell tried to get their side off to a strong start.

The pair put on 31 runs for the first wicket before Noah Maybon dismissed Craig (21) while Bryce Rogers (1/25) picked up Tom Butterfield (0).

Wickets falling in quick succession would be the undoing for the Narrandera side as after Lawrence (14) and Horrell (15) got their team to 51 they lost four quick wickets with Adrian Axtill (3/10) and Steele (1/11) doing the damage.

Reece Keech (20) was the only other batsman to get a start as Maybon (4/33) ripped through the lower order and give the Ferrets a massive win.

The Ferrets will take on Yanco next weekend.

Meanwhile, the B grade game between Yanco and Narrandera was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
