A group of Leeton shire residents are attempting to get what is known as parkrun happening in town.
Last year a meeting was held to see if there was enough interest to have parkrun established in Leeton, with plenty indicating it would be something they would like to see happen.
At the meeting, Leeton resident Andrew Watson explained parkrun is a weekly event covering five kilometres every Saturday morning of the year at either 7am or 8am.
"They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in," he said. "Anyone can take part, from walkers or those taking their first steps in running to Olympians.

"There are no costs to any participants. If you become a participant, each event is timed, your time is recorded and emailed to you."
The Leeton parkrun team have come up with a course satisfying the requirement from the governing body, parkrun Australia, that the course cannot cross roads.
What is required now is funding as each event needs to pay $7000 (plus GST) prior to its launch.
This amount covers the once-off event establishment costs, including a defibrillator.
"These costs can be met by donations or sponsorships from businesses but we are currently investigating grant opportunities to cover these costs," Watson said.
"A facebook page has been set up to keep those interested informed. There has been a lot of community support."
Leeton's Clare Vant and councillor Tracey Morris are among those supporting the idea.
Clare described her experiences in parkrun around NSW saying she was "very keen to see one here in Leeton ... no participant is last. A volunteer known as the tail-walker always comes in last".
"parkrun is a great community event and fits in with the (Leeton Shire) Council's objectives for the Leeton Community Strategic Plan," Morris said.
"It particularly fits in with providing an active and healthy, caring community."
Parkrun was started in 2004 in England, the idea was to have a run then coffee afterwards. Now it is in 21 countries, with four million participants.
"In Australia there are 373 locations with parkrun and we would like Leeton to be 374," Watson said.
