Elle's T20 Bash was an event put on to help raise money for Senior Constable Ellen Leadbitter who is attached to the Griffith Detectives is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
The police force provided the entertainment out on the field with a Twenty20 match while a packed-out Exies Sports Club dug deep to help generate funds to help Leadbitter fight the disease and organisers were blown away by the response.
"At last count on Tuesday night we have raised $26,700, and we are still getting donations coming in," a spokesperson from the Murrumbidgee Police Force said.
"There are no words to adequately describe how we are feeling at the moment.
"We started off with a goal of raising $3000 so to raise the amount we have is just incredible."
The organisers have thanked everyone for turning up in what the Exies Sports Club have told them is the biggest crowd they have had since the renovations.
"It just goes to show what kind of community we live in and work for," they said.
"To stand out in the middle of the field and see Exies full was a really special feeling.
"To have people who didn't even know Elle coming forward to help is amazing and we want to thank everyone who donated their time."
The main money raisers were the auctions with many of the items going for upwards of $500 while there was over $2000 raised in loose change.
