Not only were the fish biting after last week's deluge of rain, but the 450 competitors all enjoyed everything the event had to offer.
There was also an 18 per cent rise in the number of junior anglers taking part.
A total of 626 fish were caught which included 432 Murray cod, 28 golden perch, seven trout cod, four silver perch and 155 carp. Six thousand yellowbelly fingerlings were also released.
The biggest native caught was a 78cm Murray cod, which was angled using a yabby tail as bait by 16-year-old Harley Henschke from Lake Cargelligo.
Harley went on to be awarded the Stan Ellement overall winner of the competition and walked away with over $2500 in prizes.
Other great catches included young Leeton resident Hunter Harman, who reeled in a 64cm Murray cod in the sub junior age class, while Gary Cheeseman was the senior Murray cod winner with a 69cm native.
"The citizen science facet of the competition was once again well supported by our competitors with all catch data to be analyzed by NSW DPI fisheries staff to help determine the health and productivity of our river system," Bidgee Classic president Jodie Ryan said.
