The Leeton Business Awards, which were due to be held on June 27, were officially called off on Wednesday morning.
The Leeton Business Chamber made the difficult decision, which corresponds with the NSW Chamber's move to not run regional and state awards this year as a result of health advice regarding public gatherings and events amid efforts to try and limit the amount of people contracting COVID-19.
As of this Wednesday, indoor gatherings of more than 100 people have also been banned as Australia declares a biosecurity emergency.

Organisers said this leaves the Leeton Business Chamber no choice but to halt organising and reassess the event for 2021 later in the year.
The committee said it was disappointed, but the need to abide by Department of Health advice was crucial for the safety of the community.
"With already 50 or so nominations coming in, we were just getting started in creating an amazing event for our community," chamber president Wayne Bond said.
"We had to make the tough decision that we were all dreading.
"We assessed our risk to continue and as a non-profit organisation we could not afford to continue organising this event and potentially have to cancel closer to the event or have a low attended event.
"We would like to thank all our sponsors that were so eager to come on board for the 2020 Leeton Business Awards and hope they will be as enthusiastic when we reschedule."
Discussion on the 2021 Leeton Business Awards will be held later in the year.
During this current time Leeton Business Chamber will focus on helping members stay up-to-date with business news, advice and local promotions during this uncertain economic time.
