The decision was made public on Sunday night on the club's Facebook page with president Bill Arnold making the announcement.
"It is with some regret that we announce the postponement of our 100-year celebration weekend and reunion," he said.
"Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 which has resulted in social gathering bands and the uncertainty around the Group 20 season itself, the committee has decided that the safest and most practical course of action would be to hold over celebrations until 2021."
Arnold said the decision was made to protect the safety of those looking to attend and with the lockdown already delaying invites the Greens president felt it wouldn't allow enough time for those travelling to Leeton to attend.
"The health and safety of our players and supporters, particularly our older ones, was in the forefront of our minds when making this decision," he said.
"With formal invites due to be sent out last week but delayed due to the lockdown, it was also felt that any further delay would not give our supporters from around Australia and overseas enough time to plan for travel.
"This was important to us as we want to reach as many people as possible to make the reunion the best event it can be."
While the news will disappoint the Greens fans who were looking forward to catching up and reminiscing about their past success, Arnold said there were positives to be taken looking into 2021.
"Due to the groundwork already performed by the committee, we have a head start on planning for next year's celebration," he said.
