MLHD announced on April 6 there have been no new cases confirmed within the health district for the second consecutive day, with the count for the region at 42 as of 8am on April 6.
The last confirmed case in the health district was in the update on April 4, with no new confirmed cases coming in the 24-hour period between 8am on April 4 and 8am on April 5.
Of the 42 cases, Wagga Wagga has the most confirmed cases within the region with 10 cases, while the Griffith and Murrumbidgee LGAs have three cases each and the Narrandera Shire has one confirmed case.
A total of 2080 people in the MLHD area have been tested for COVID-19 as of 8am on April 6.
MLHD have also changed the hours of their COVID-19 hotline, with the hotline now operating seven days a week from 7am to 9pm.
Those wishing to be assessed and tested for COVID-19 are to contact the hotline on 1800 831 099.
MLHD chief executive Jill Ludford said the health district is looking to identify cases as early as possible to further reduce transmission in the region.
"NSW Health recently broadened the testing criteria for COVID-19 and MLHD has expanded further to include any person with symptoms of respiratory illness, regardless of travel or contact history," Ms Ludford said.
"This will provide for a better understanding of the prevalence of COVID-19 in our communities as well as early identification of any cases to prevent further transmission."
Those who are concerned and would like to speak to someone about any symptoms they may be showing are encouraged to contact the MLHD's COVID-19 hotline on 1800 831 099 and speak to a nurse who will provide information about the best course of action.
The time between when a person is exposed to the virus and when symptoms first appear is typically five to six days, although it may range from two to 14 days.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, sore throat and dry cough.
Members of the public are urged to minimise travel, increase personal awareness around hand hygiene and practice social distancing.
