HIDING in a cupboard was no way to avoid being charged with serious drugs and weapons offences for one Leeton man this week.

The 34-year-old man was arrested and charged on May 21 after police allegedly found two knives, a samurai sword, a coffee table leg fashioned into a weapon, shotgun shells, cannabis and methylamphetamine at the Wirilda Street property.
A 1.8 metre diamond python snake was also found by officers under a lounge before being safely removed. It is now in the care of an animal rescue organisation.
Earlier that day, Murrumbidgee Police District officers were patrolling the street when they stopped to speak with the man.
They allege the man was in possession of a knife, which was seized.
He was released pending inquiries.
Following further inquiries, police conducted a firearms prohibition order and a weapons prohibition order at the home, which led to the discovery of the drugs, weapons and the snake.
Police said it was also at this time they located the man hiding in a cupboard at the property.

He was arrested and taken to Leeton Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of using prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order, acquiring ammunition subject to prohibition order, two counts of possessing prohibited drug and resisting an officer in the execution of duty.
The man appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court on May 22.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Griffith Local Court on June 2.
Inquiries by police are continuing.
