Nicole and Rohan Campbell, managers of the Big4 NRMA Riverside Holiday Park, have been kept busy with a steady stream of bookings for the weekend.

"Our ensuite sites are all sold out and our cabins are starting to fill up," she said.

Mrs Campbell said visitors to the park could drop a line in the Hopkins River or take a relaxing stroll.

She said the past few months had been challenging, but the couple had focused on completing works at the park.

"The park is looking as good as it ever has," Mr Campbell said.

The couple encouraged people to book a trip to help stimulate the economies of regional towns hit hard by the coronavirus restrictions.

"If people are travelling all night they are spending money at the local shops and providing income for the whole town," Mrs Campbell said.

Rundell's Mahogany Trail Rides will be operating on the long weekend and spots are filling quickly.

Owner Sandra Wilson said the 1.5 hour trail ride on Sunday was booked out, but spots remained on Saturday and Monday.

She said there were a number of people from outside of Warrnambool who had made a booking.

"We've been open for about a week," Ms Wilson said. "People are excited about coming back and riding."

Ms Wilson said participants would be in for a treat with the trail taking in the beach.

"We're down on the beach for at least half an hour," she said.

Warrnambool mayor Tony Herbert urged people to visit the city. "Now is the perfect time for people to enjoy an overnight stay in regional Victoria," Cr Herbert said.

He said the city was a fabulous year-round destination.

"Our coastline is spectacular at any time of the year and Warrnambool offers the best dining and shopping experience in the south-west.

"And of course those who choose to visit Warrnambool and the region are visiting Australia's most liveable destination.

"We're also approaching our whale watching season, which provides another great incentive to visit. So, the invitation is out there: book your getaway in Warrnambool."

Warrnambool City Council's chief executive officer Peter Schneider said Surfside Holiday Park was open to visitors who were staying in cabins and chalets, along with 'self-contained' campers who had their own toilet and shower facilities. Visitors to the city can also play a game of mini golf or visit the Timor Street markets.
