Neighbours noticed smoke coming from the unoccupied home in Hickory Street around 2pm on Sunday and immediately called Triple Zero.
Leeton Fire and Rescue was quickly on the scene with two trucks and two crews, who worked to establish the blaze.
Captain Graham Parks said the fire was contained to one room.
"Luckily the home was unoccupied and the fire could be contained to that one room," he said.
"The neighbours who called Triple Zero definitely helped get us there quickly, which meant the spread of the fire could be stopped."
