IT MIGHT feel like just yesterday that students were returning to the classroom full-time, but nevertheless, the school holidays have arrived once again.

For those still not keen on travelling during the current COVID-19 pandemic, there's plenty of activities you and your children can do together right here in Leeton - without having to spend too much cash.
We've put together some of our favourite, family-friendly activities for when you need to get the kids out of the house during the break.
1 Take in a movie at the iconic Roxy Theatre
The theatre is re-opening its doors from July 9 for moviegoers. There's bound to be a film to entertain children of all ages (and maybe even mum and dad too).
With the theatre set to undergo its redevelopment and construction work from early next year, it's time to get that movie fix in now.
2 Test your skills at the Leeton Skate Park
Kids love trying new tricks - so why not head to the skate park and get them to do just that on their bike, scooter or skateboard.
Even better, get them to teach you a trick or two.
Having mum and dad get involved is where the real memory-making takes place.
The best part, this activity costs absolutely nothing.
The skate part is also due for an upgrade later this year.
3 Take the kids out for lunch or a morning/afternoon tea date
One of the things I remember most about the school holidays growing up was when one of my parents would take the day off and we'd all head out for lunch together.
Or perhaps a a milkshake date - whatever it was - I remember it as being a treat and something to look forward to.
You could even purchase some of the takeaway options on offer at the many cafes and restaurants in Leeton and head out for a picnic at one of the many parks in the shire - or even on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River.
What's even better is this is a great opportunity to spend some of your hard-earned money at a local business and we know they could all use our support right now.
4 Take a stroll or bike ride
Leeton has many great shared footpaths and cycleways - why not get some fresh air and exercise as a family?
There's many different paths and tracks to take.
You could stop off at a local park for a quick play on the equipment. Perhaps meet up with other families and head out together.
There's nothing better than wearing out those little legs before getting (hopefully) a good night's sleep.
Did we mention, this is another activity that won't cost a cent!
5 Explore nature at Fivebough Wetlands
Set some tasks and challenges for finding certain birds, plants or other parts of nature and get out and explore the Fivebough Wetlands.
There's plenty of resources online to go on a nature hunt, but if that's not your style, it really is great fun heading out to the wetlands and wandering out to see what you can spot.
After some recent rain, it's looking fantastic out there.
There's also plenty of spots for a picnic lunch.
