Councillor Michael Kidd told a recent Leeton Shire Council meeting he believes there is complacency among some motorists at the Teatree Avenue and Cassia Road intersection.
This area is residential to the north and mostly industrial to the south.
The crossways intersection currently has give way signage posted, but in most cases motorists do need to slow to a stop to properly look for traffic before crossing over or turning.

"Painting the road, yeah that's a nice idea, but honestly people will return to their old habits," Cr Kidd said.
"I suggest we investigate those 'pillows' we have installed on Petersham Road.
"They appear to work well there. I think we need to do something.
"The theory is it would slow people down."
However, councillor Paul Smith said having the speed cushions in place could prove troublesome, suggesting a stop sign on either side could be more beneficial.
"I don't know how that (speed cushions) would go in that area," he said.
"In that area you've got heavy vehicle movement going into those businesses along there.
"When you are trying to steer a heavy vehicle and you're going over an incline on the road, it damages trucks."
Cr Kidd said he was happy to take advice on the issue, but said he was worried driver familiarity in the area would result in a serious accident occurring.
Council will now investigate the area as a result of the discussion.
