Beau Daniel Hindmarsh, 28, was sentenced for the offence of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit in Leeton Local Court on Tuesday.
Facts tendered to the court showed Hindmarsh took the home made knuckle dusters to the correctional facility while visiting a friend there on March 4, 2018.
His vehicle was searched after officers noticed a dog in the car.

Magistrate Miranda Moody asked why the matter had taken so long to come before the court, but Hindmarsh's solicitor David Davidge was unsure why there had been a delay.
"You told officers you were unaware it was illegal to have these home made knuckle dusters in your possession ... I don't accept that you didn't know this," Ms Moody said.
"It's criminally stupid."
Hindmarsh was convicted and fined $400.
