The state's Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell and the Murray electorate's duty MLC Wes Fang will announce the planning for the upgrade to school's boarding facilities would begin by the end of term four.
Students at the school have highlighted the need for much-needed upgrades to the female accommodation this year, as the school prepares to celebrate it's first centenary in 2022.
Both Ms Mitchell and Mr Fang, as well as the Member for Murray Helen Dalton have toured the facilities to see the issues for themselves this year.
"I'm pleased the NSW Government has committed to planning for an upgrade of the dorms at Yanco," Ms Mitchell said.
She said Yanco Ag had special place in the state's education system because as one of four public specialist agricultural schools it was the only one to offer boarding places for female students.
Mr Fang said the upgrade would secure the school's future for years to come and would encourage more students to study agriculture at the school in the MIA.
"I invited the minister to Yanco earlier this year and we both toured the school," Mr Fang said.
"Together, we agreed on the need for this upgrade and have worked to ensure the NSW Government started the process of that upgrade.
"Yanco provides education in AgSTEM practices, driving future innovation and interest in the agricultural sector.
"I want our public boarding students to benefit from the best facilities possible."
