The new rules were put in play this week after the NSW Government announced them in July.
Gyms and fitness centres have to register their COVID Safety Plan as well as having a dedicated 'hygiene marshall' on duty.
The new rules have meant gym members and staff at Anytime Fitness have had to adapt.
Anytime Fitness Leeton manager Farrah Thompson said members cannot train in the gym without bringing a towel to clean equipment before and after use.
Staff are also making sure people are following the new rules and each hour a thorough clean of all the gym equipment is completed.
It's meant working hours have to be carefully juggled to ensure there's a staff member on the floor.
Ms Thompson said the members had been really good about adapting.
"We'd really like to thank our members who have followed the rules that were put in place," she said.
Extra hand sanitiser bottles have been brought in as well as signage reminding members to keep a suitable distance from staff and other users.
Ms Thompson said a number of the machines had been cordoned off to ensure that 1.5 metre distance between people was kept.
"A lot of regulars have returned and there are a few people who have been a little hesitant," she said.
She said following the lifting of restrictions from March, there had been a flood of new members join the gym, with July one of the business months for the Leeton business.
"We had a really busy month before the new rules came in, a lot of new members joined," Ms Thompson said.
"It can be a lot more motivating when you come to the club, if you're at home exercising yourself it can be a little harder," she said.
