With this in mind, I would like to write about the service providers you might not be familiar with and how fortunate Leeton is to have amazing business' supporting people living with a disability and their families.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme is the most significant reform of disability services in Australia in a generation.
It aims to increase both the funding available for disability services, and the control that people living with disabilities have over the design and delivery of their support and care.
Traditionally the service providers would receive "block funding", now the NDIS is an individual package for each person and they can choose the provider that best suits their needs.

What most people are unaware of is that at their plan meeting with Intereach the participants can choose how they manage their funds.
There are three different ways - agency managed (can only use registered NDIS providers) plan managed (where the NDIS pays someone to pay the bills) and self- managed (meaning that the participant or a nominee for that person manages the funding).
Plan and self-managed - they can use any business/provider they choose if they are following the code of conduct, they have the correct insurances and of course things like WWCC and police checks in place then they tick all the boxes for being able to provide services, care, support and mentoring in the NDIS space.
This has amazing opportunities for people living with a disability to get the best out of not only their NDIS plans but, out of life.
What I love about this industry is that all the smaller businesses are working together to ensure that the disability sector is in good hands. We all network and if we don't feel that what we offer is the best fit for a particular client - then we chat and refer each other.
Not too many businesses can say they work so collaboratively, but, at the end of the day, this is not a product, and it shouldn't be all about the money.
These are real people, and they deserve nothing but the best. If anyone would like to receive the list of local providers in the Leeton and Narrandera areas.
