As we now know, 2017 was a very different season for these sides compared to how 2020 is playing out.
Here's how The Irrigator previewed the men's first grade side's final home game of the season in 2017.
Last home game beckons
WITH their spot on the ladder set, Leeton United will use Sunday's game to test out their skills ahead of the finals.
United will take on the bottom-placed Young in what will be their final home game of the season.
"It does look like we will finish in fourth ahead of the finals ... I don't think that can change," assistant coach Joe Trifogli said.
"We want to play well leading into the finals, so hopefully we can do that this weekend.
"I wasn't at last week's game (against Junee), but from all reports we played a brilliant first-half.
"We let ourselves down in the second half a bit I think, just complacency.
"We've been working on that because you can't afford to be doing that against the top teams in finals."

This weekend's opponents in Young haven't had the best season, but Trifogli said that would be no excuse to be taking the team lightly.
United expected to have a near-strength side available for the match, with Adam Raso unavailable and some other slight injury concerns.
Reserve grade will be playing this weekend for a top two finish.
They are currently in second on the ladder, on equal points with Tolland.
Third grade will also be making an appearance and they look to finish in either third or fourth position.
"There's a really good buzz around the club at the moment," Trifogli said.
"It's great to have all our men's teams playing finals.
"The women's team are building, so I'm sure they will be trying their best in the seasons to come to get into the finals."
Trifogli said the main aim this weekend for first grade was to play the full 90 minutes of football.
"We seem to be able to play 45, 50, 60 and 70 minutes, then switch off," he said.
"This weekend we want to change that heading into finals.
"If we can stick to our structure, play where (coach) Mick wants us to and get those little things right, we should be okay.
"We just want to see an improvement in playing a full game. The full 90 minutes."
