Any decision to make masks compulsory in NSW will be guided by the extent of community transmission, Murrumbidgee Local Health District says.

MLHD director of public health Tracey Oakman said containing COVID-19 case clusters and working out their origins remained important..
"When you have unidentified sources, we just don't know who's walking around with COVID, potentially, and that can increase the considerations for wearing masks," she said.
"I think the tighter restrictions in Victoria do take a couple of weeks to see results of and certainly the NSW Chief Health Officer is monitoring those very closely."
Masks must be worn in Victoria under public health orders, but are only recommended in NSW where social distancing can't be maintained or people are working face to face with the public.
"Masks are just part of the picture to protect yourself," Mrs Oakman said.
"The other things are good hand washing as well, staying home if you're unwell."
A family of four diagnosed with COVID-19 in Wagga this week is being monitored while three earlier Albury cases are also progressing.

Murrumbidgee Local Health District reported no new cases in the 24 hours to 8am Wednesday.
Mrs Oakman said it was "comforting and a relief" to know so far cases in the region had been few and contained.
"When people do the right thing, it enables us to keep the hope of elimination of COVID alive," she said.
Testing clinics continue to be held throughout the Murrumbidgee area, but testing is not taking place at the border checkpoints.
"It's a matter of traffic management and it's quite difficult if you've got people lined up to get through a border to then have them delayed in getting across because there's testing occurring as well," she said.

People are required to self-isolate after the test until their result is received, this usually takes around 30 hours and can be received via text message.
