About 5.30pm on Monday, police received reports of an upturned car that had seemingly crashed into a canal on Mansell Road, Hanwood.
A closer inspection of the vehicle revealed the bodies of two men inside.
On Saturday, Murrumbidgee Police had received a missing persons report for two men in their 50s, both of whom lived in the Griffith area.
Police say that early investigations suggest the vehicle ran off the road and crashed into the canal, killing the driver and his passenger, however further inquiries are ongoing.
The vehicle was left in the canal due to the difficult terrain, and it will be lifted from the canal on Tuesday morning with the help of Volunteer Rescue Association members.
Investigations are ongoing
