Barnes partnered with Rohan Dunham to win the club pairs championship on the weekend.
The pair went in as underdogs to the defending champions Wayne Everett and Leon Maybon, with a hamstring injury to Barnes and a lack of recent bowling for Dunham enhancing this status.
After a tight start with the teams locked at three a piece, Barnes and Dunham dominated the rest of the game and won 16 of the next 19 ends to run out convincing winners by 25-9.

While the game was played in cold and windy conditions, Everett would not make any excuses for their loss.
"They were just too good for us," he said.
The win has shot Barnes to favouritism for the Leeton & District Bowling Club bowler of the year as he has opened up a 19-point lead over second placed Leon Maybon with only a handful of events remaining.
