That money has now been granted by the state government and work will soon be getting underway.

The hall itself is many years old and no longer complies with certain safety guidelines.

This includes its doors to the building swinging inwards instead of outwards, which inhibits fire codes.

What this has meant is the Girl Guides haven't been able to hold certain events until these issues have been rectified, meaning the recent funding announcement couldn't have come at a better time.

Leeton Girl Guides leader Naomi McDougal said the organisation had been trying to gain funding for quite some time to make these adjustments and bring the building up to code.

"We've been waiting for a long time ... we're really excited to get this funding," she said.

"The girls have been waiting to have a sleepover and we just can't do it until things like the doors and security locks are put in place and addressed."

Duty MLC for Murray, Wes Fang, said the Leeton Girl Guide hall was one of 14 Girl across the state identified for funding and upgrade work.

"I welcome the state-wide funding from the NSW government which will include installation of fire doors and smoke alarms to the Leeton Girl Guide Hall," he said.

"Girl Guides offers young girls from age 5 to 17 with fun, friendship and adventure and this work will help empower them with safe facilities to grow and develop leadership skills while contributing to the community."

The Leeton Girl Guides group is always looking for not just new members, but leaders as well.

With many activities on hold, most are taking place at the hall itself, meaning now is a perfect time to head along and find out what being a girl guide is all about.

The Leeton Girl Guides meet on Monday evenings from 5pm to 7pm for those aged 10 and up, while junior guides (those under 10) meet on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6.30pm.

"We'd love to see some new faces and parents wanting to help out ... come and see what we're all about," Mrs McDougal said.
