The two clubs have plenty of history, meaning pride is on the line come kick off on Sunday afternoon at Leeton's No. 1 Oval.
However, victory is also critical for both teams.
Leeton sits in fifth, while Hanwood is fourth, but both are on equal points.
Neither side was able to play last weekend after all Football Wagga matches were called off by officials following heavy rain.
It remains uncertain as to whether or not these matches will be rescheduled, but United is certainly hoping their game against South Wagga will be played at another time.
What is clear in the short-term is the need to win this weekend, according to coach Frank Alampi.

"It's going to be a tough game, it always is against Hanwood," he said.
"You can talk it down, play it down and say it's just another three points - which it is - but at the end of the day it's not either.
"There's big rivalry there and that definitely motivates both sides. There's always that extra feeling in there."
United expected to make a final decision about its starting line up at training on Thursday night, allowing those with niggling injuries to test themselves and make a bid for first grade selection.
Alampi said there were certain areas of Hanwood's game Leeton would be aiming to exploit.
"We've got some ideas on that and the boys are aware of what that is," he said.
"We'll see what we can implement in the game.
"They might set up differently and we might need to adjust our thinking and adapt as the game goes on."
However, in saying that Alampi said United always approached games with their own plan in mind.
"I'm a big advocate of sticking to how we play and hopefully that troubles them (the opposition) enough that they change the way they want to play," he said.
"I tried to instill that in the guys last year. It's obviously something we're trying to do this year, but we just don't have that time up our sleeve.
"That's why we need to play every game to the very best of our ability."
