The Fivebough Wetlands are the perfect place for exploration, a walk, bird spotting and watching and just getting to know this landmark right on our doorstep.
That's exactly what we have done on a cool, winter day recently.
During our visit to the wetlands we spotted many birds, kangaroos and plenty of water.
The wetlands are home to several walking tracks, bird watching huts and shelters, places to stop and take photographs and just enjoy some fresh air.
The approximate area of Fivebough Wetlands is 342 hectares, but only a certain area can be accessed by foot.
There's also plenty of space to take lunch and make an afternoon of it and there's plenty of learning experiences to be had along the way.
Visitor parking is located on Petersham Road, where a footbridge provides visitor entrance to the reserve.
Access to Fivebough Wetlands is by foot or bicycle (no vehicles permitted).
