WHAT a wonderful start to spring for the Leeton Community Care Development Inc.
This is the governing body of the Leeton Community Op Shop.
We are excited to share we have committed to purchasing a much-needed community food van with the support of local businesses.
We are hoping we can take delivery of the food van early in December.
The food van will be used for our ongoing "pop up shop'" titled #Ngumbaay, #oneleeton events.
These are already reaching a lot of our community's families, particularly our Leeton children.
Having held our third pop up shop over the weekend we can see this will be a valuable service, providing assistance and inclusion for our local families.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Leeton Rapid Relief Team led by Rod Martin, who has been a huge asset in the drive to source the initial funds raised towards the community's food van purchase.
They also supported our first event with a team of RRT Leeton volunteers cooking at our inaugural pop up shop held at Gossamer Park with their new trailer.
Any businesses who would like to contribute towards the food van can find out more by emailing email@example.com.
All donations $2 and over are tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.
We are also excited to have been presented an award by the local Member for Murray Helen Dalton.
This has been mentioned in Parliament and is to be included into Hansard.
The award was for the great work we have done in the Leeton shire community over the last four plus years.
For the LCCD board of directors, staff and volunteers past and present, this is an exciting achievement.
A reminder the Leeton Community Op Shop is still taking donations.
If you do not have time to drop of at one of our green bins call the store on 6953 5664 to arrange a pickup service.
Our lovely Bev is cooking in the op shop Tuesday to Friday and will advertise her menu on our Facebook page weekly.
This is an affordable takeaway at just $6 and anyone wishing to contribute to our pay it forward program may do so.
