The organisation has grown in stature in the community in the last 18 months.

At a recent fundraiser, the group rolled out its new emergency relief barbecue trailer, which was purchased with the assistance of some funding from the federal government.

Member for Farrer Sussan Ley and mayor Paul Maytom were on hand recently to see the new trailer at work in the town's main street as the team raised money to assist with the purchase of a community food van at the Leeton Community Op Shop.

The RRT trailer is the first of its kind in Leeton and will be used at fundraising events such as this, as well as community events or when disaster strikes the area to help feed volunteers involved.

"It was a pleasure to pop by and meet up with a great team after our government contributed part of the funding for the trailer," Ms Ley said.

"I was also blown away by the combined volunteer spirit in Leeton with the RRT helping out the op shop to raise money for a much-needed food delivery van."

RRT consists of volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC) and, like many charities around the country, continues to find new and creative ways to meet needs in their local areas.

While serving the local community, the RRT helped to raise over $1000 for the community food van, with the group also contributing an additional $2000 towards the initiative.

RRT local team leader Rod Martin said this grant has already gone a long way to ensuring the RRT can continue their work in Leeton.

"Whether it's feeding firefighters, providing free hay for our drought affected farmers or delivering a food box to vulnerable families during COVID-19, the RRT is always there to lend a helping hand," Mr Martin said.

"Care and compassion are always at the core of RRT's outreach programs and our volunteers will continue to step up to the challenge and are committed to supporting our local communities through tough times.
