Police are appealing to the public to help match a COMFIT image to a man that who could be key to investigations after a young girl was reportedly sexually assaulted in the Riverina last year.

Strike Fore Lynbrae was formed by the State Crime Command's child abuse and sex crimes squad in March to investigate the reports.
Police have been told the 12-year-old girl was walking along Pine Avenue in Leeton during the afternoon when she was approached by a stranger.
It is believed to have been sometime 4pm and 4.30pm on a weekday between August and September last year that she was taken from her journey to a nearby location and sexually assaulted.
"As investigations continue, detectives have released a COMFIT image of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries," police said as they released the image on Monday morning.
"The man depicted in the COMFIT image is described as being aged in his 20s or 30s, of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, with a tanned complexion, brown hair, unkept facial hair and a wrinkled forehead.

"Detectives are urging anyone in the community who may recognise the man depicted in the COMFIT image, or who has information about the incident, to come forward."
He is believed to have been wearing black tracksuit pants and a grey jumper at the time, police said.
