However, it's not all bad news.

With fundraising activities grinding to a halt due to COVID-19 restrictions, the generosity of the community has become more evident than ever.

Leeton VRA president Paul Smith explained the organisation had been successful in gaining a number of grants.

This money is being put towards purchasing new battery-operated equipment and tools.

"We've been lucky enough to have grant funding from the Leeton SunRice Festival Ambassador Quest and the Leeton Soldiers Club recently, which is really fantastic," Mr Smith said.

"Not being able to really fundraise this year, all of these grants are extremely helpful."

Leeton's Beyond Bank branch is also jumping on board to support this group.

For one day this month residents will be able to head into the branch and donate money that will not only go directly to the Leeton VRA, but will also be matched dollar-for-dollar by Beyond Bank.

In terms of new members at the organisation, COVID-19 has made it difficult to train up any newcomers.

"We'd definitely love to see some more people come on board, but we haven't been able to do a lot of the training just due to all of the COVID regulations and social distancing that we need to adhere to," Mr Smith said.

"Hopefully we'll be able to start doing all of that again properly in the near future."
