TRAGEDY has struck Leeton again for the second time in a week with the passing of a much-loved community member.
Police have confirmed a 66-year-old Leeton man was involved in a fatal accident in Goolgowi on Tuesday, October 13.
The accident occurred at Merrondale Lane in Goolgowi about 11.30am.
Murrumbidgee Police District Chief Inspector John Wadsworth said the man was working at the time.
"He had his heavy vehicle there and was working at that location," he said.
"Unfortunately there's been an accident with a telehandler and emergency services were called to the scene."
Police and paramedics rushed to the location, taking the man to Griffith Base Hospital, but he passed away soon after.
A report is being prepared for the Coroner, with SafeWork NSW also commencing an investigation, according to a spokesman.
"SafeWork NSW are investigating a reported incident in Goolgowi where a farm worker suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a telehandler," the spokesman said.
"SafeWork's investigation is ongoing."
This follows a tragic incident at a property at Corbie Hill on October 8 where a 67-year-old Leeton man died after an accident involving a tractor.
