It has not been for lack of trying though. Administrative challenges and COVID-19 have hampered efforts, however the group has recently welcomed its first female squadron officer and cadet.
The group is now looking to expand on its efforts with an open day for females aged between 12 and 18 on Saturday, October 24 at Narrandera-Leeton Airport.
According to Mr Manning, becoming a cadet can pave the way, and demystify the process, for a career in aviation.
"We've had four members that have finished up as fighter pilots and two that have finished up as helicopter pilots," he said.
"We teach them about navigation, the weather - which is so important, air safety, the theory of flight and other things. We're building a simulator so they can sit and learn to fly."
