The Leeton Golf Club is continuing to plan to construct a new clubhouse at the site of the former facility on Acacia Avenue.
The idea would be for the new clubhouse to be kept simple - a place for golf club members to gather and enjoy a drink or meal together after playing on the course, but also a space for the community to hold small functions.
However, to do so isn't cheap.
The club has been actively applying for grants and is continuing to do so to reach the total expected project cost, which is estimated to be around $850,000.
MORE NEWS:
Leeton Shire Council has indicated in-kind support valued at around $100,000 for the likes of site preparation, landscaping and car-parking.
A private benefactor will also be contributing around $400,000, while the club itself will put in $50,000.
It is hoped the remaining funds will be sourced through grants, but to date the club has been unsuccessful.
Club president John Martin said a lot of work had gone into the planning of the new club house, with a design and development application already approved.
It is getting close to a decade since the former clubhouse was demolished.
"It did cause a bit of angst among members at the time, but the old building did have a lot of issues," Mr Martin said.
"It probably would have cost more to fix than demolish. Also at that stage we had amalgamated with the Leeton Soldiers Club. The idea was to move everything over there, which didn't happen because then the club went into administration."
What golf club members are hoping for is a space they can call their own, especially given the popularity of the sport in Leeton, but they would also like to be able to offer the facility to the community to use for family events, small fundraisers and the like.
Any individual or group who would like to contribute to the fundraising tally for the clubhouse is welcome to touch base with Mr Martin at jcmartos@bigpond.com.
