Stakeholders of the ovals such as Leeton High School, the Leeton District Cricket Association, Leeton Little Athletics and Leeton Junior Rugby League had come together to apply for grant funding for the new irrigation system, which was successfully handed out by the state government.
Leeton business Think Water completed the work in the first half of 2020, but in recent weeks it has been noted it appears the new system isn't being regularly used or turned on.
MORE NEWS:
With hot weather already arriving, concerns among the community for the vast grass area are being aired and many are wondering why the irrigation system isn't being used.
It is believed a filter could be to blame, which was not included in the original project.
The business is not to blame for the system's apparent under use or the lack of filter.
This filter is believed to be costly, but it is believed the new system can run without it.

The Irrigator has contacted Member for Murray Helen Dalton's office to see if there's something she can do to help cover the costs of a new filter to ensure the watering can be completed on a regular basis.
Mrs Dalton's office said it was currently exploring ways and options to assist in helping cover the costs, as well as writing to the appropriate minister to gain extra support.
User groups of the ovals will also reportedly be meeting on November 30 to discuss a way forward and hash out the ins and outs of why the system isn't currently being used to its full capacity.
