The warm weather and COVID restrictions did little to deter competitors from as far away as Orange and Wangaratta from making the journey to Griffith.
Numbers were well and truly on the rise from last year's event despite the difficulties with 224 athletes turning up to take part compared to 186 last year.
Griffith Little Athletics president was pleased with the numbers at what will be their final carnival before the re-developments at West End Oval.
It was a day which saw several records broken including the same record being broken in the same event on a couple of occasions.
The U/17s boys 100m event was the best example of this with a new record set on three separate occasions. The record had stood since 2016 at 12.25 before Chaise Sergi, and Ethan Donetto from Griffith broke that time while Jordy White from Orange went even better to take the record with a time of 11.78.
Donetto was able to beat his own record in the U/17s boys 200m as he shaved almost a second off his time.
Leslie Ledwich has a great day out in the AWD U/13s boys as he not only finished as age champion in the division but also set new records in the 100m, discus, double jump and shot put.
It was a good afternoon for Griffith's John Paul Dal Broi (U/9 boys), Mary Dal Broi (U/11 girls), and Antonio Catanzariti (U/8 boys) who were crowned age champions in their divisions.
There were a couple of strong performers from Leeton as well with a couple of new record holders and age champions.
Maylee Teerman was able to set a new record in the U/5 girls long jump with a jump of 1.78m while Ellena Halloran broke the 80m hurdles record as she shaved a tenth of a second of the U/13 girls record.
Blake Heath has a strong day in the AWD U/10 boys coming away as age champion as well as new records in the 200m, 800m, discus, double jump and shot put while Isla Panuccio was crowned age champion in the U/6s girls as well as setting a new record in the U/6 girls discus which had stood since 1996.
