LEETON shire residents wanting to sink their teeth into a creative project have no greater opportunity than right now to do so.
An information session was held on December 1 to give the community the low down on the Henry V production, which will bring the theatre to Leeton Mountford's Park in April next year.
Spearheaded by Leeton actor Jake Speer, who will take on the lead role, but also make his theatre directorial debut, all other acting roles are up-for-grabs.
There's also plenty of other roles behind-the-scenes that need filling, with a mentor program also running in conjunction with the production.
This will give residents the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry.
Speaking at the information session, Mr Speer said the commitment will have to be great for those involved, but the rewards will be equally so.
The information session was crucial part of the process, with Mr Speer meeting with residents and others from across the region who have been urged to register for the upcoming auditions and mentorships with the professional staging crew from Sydney.
"There are roles for the young and there are roles for, dare I say, older, 'seasoned' residents," Mr Speer said.
"I'm also not averse to talented women playing men and vice versa."
Mr Speer said the themes of Henry V were as fresh today as when Shakespeare penned it in 1599.
"War, tribalism, brutality and the pursuit of power at all costs have continued to be central throughout the ages," he said.
People wanting to audition or apply for mentorships must register on the Roxy website at www.roxyleeton.com.au.
The first round of auditions will be held on December 12 and 13 with a further round in January.
Mr Speer said anyone interested in auditioning could have as little or as much experience and encouraged those who have never performed before, but who have always wanted to, to front up and give it a crack.
Dates for the Henry V shows in Mountford Park are currently being ironed out with the production the first of its kind for the outdoor space in Leeton.
