The internationally-renowned event won't be able to host overseas competitors in 2021 due to the country's border closures, but that will give Australia's best of the best a chance to show what they are made of.

With so many events cancelled in 2020, organisers said they were pleased to be able to bring the event to Leeton again.

The competition will start on December 28 and run through until January 5.

In more good news, Leeton has also been selected to host the Australian Junior Nationals Competition and Junior Coaching Program shortly after from January 7 to January 15.

Formula 1.0 organiser Nick Gilbert said pilots were looking forward to coming back to Leeton.

"After the year everyone has had and many competitions being cancelled, pilots are definitely looking forward to the event in Leeton," he said.

"It's a shame we won't have the international guys there, but hopefully we get plenty of entries from across Australia."

The winner of the last two years, Ben Loxton, won't be in attendance either after moving to America.

"That's a good and bad thing not having Ben obviously, but it does give someone else a chance to win the competition," Mr Gilbert said.

As always, all of the action will be held from Brobenah Aerodrome, with the community welcome to attend to watch the gliders take off and land each day.

Last year's competition had some days affected by bad weather, including smoke haze, with organisers hopeful the weather patterns this time around will be kinder for gliding.
